Gosprzydowa, a small village with over eight hundred years of history, can be called ‘my little homeland’ by its inhabitants and compatriots living in various corners of the world. As the authors of the website about Gosprzydowa and the book ‘Gosprzydowa from the history of the village and parish’, we often hear the words spoken with sentiment: ‘this is where my grandparents came from - we also return to this place with pleasant memories.’ The memories passed down to children and grandchildren have a tangible background of stories about the legendary Gosprzydowa and the people who created it.
The story about Gosprzydowa was published in two book editions, the first in 2006 and the second in 2015, supplemented and expanded with source texts and rich photo material. The inspiration to develop the third edition of the book about Gosprzydowa came from inquiries ‘from overseas’ about the English version of the book. Over the centuries, our compatriots have emigrated ‘in search of bread’ and started their families in various places on Earth. The young generation uses the language of their grandparents and great-grandparents to a lesser extent. The book about Gosprzydowa found on websites is a thread connecting childhood memories with the actual image of the village, which, as we hear, people eagerly reach for, even just by looking at photos or using online translations. The third edition was developed based on Polish texts prepared years ago, changed, supplemented and updated by 2024, and enriched with photos taken, among others, at the Museum of Folk Architecture in Sanok, to present the living conditions in the Polish countryside at the beginning of the 20th century.
As authors, we hope that this third edition of the book about Our Small Homeland, dedicated to the descendants of the inhabitants of Gosprzydowa scattered all over the world, will be an inspiration to cultivate tradition and to responsibly create the present based on the heritage of past generations.
