The publication „From the origins of nature to the competencies of the future. Jubilee of the Hugo Kołłątaj University of Agriculture in Krakow” serves as a tangible record of the celebrations of the triple Jubilee: the 100^th anniversary of the current Faculty of Agriculture and Economics, the 70^th anniversary of the current Faculty of Animal Science, and the 70^th anniversary of the University. The book consists of five chapters, assigned according to the expertise of their authors: Dr Eng. Sylwester Tabor, Prof. URK - Rector of the University of Agriculture in Krakow, Prof. Dr Eng. Agnieszka Filipiak-Florkiewicz - Vice-Rector for Science, Prof. Dr Eng. Andrzej Lepiarczyk - Vice-Rector for General Affairs, Prof. Dr Eng. Andrzej Sechman - Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, and Dr Eng. Andrzej Bogdał, Prof. URK - Vice-Rector for Education. Each chapter provides not only a summary of the past, but also a description of the present. The opening chapter, written by the Rector, presents an overview of the publication, and analyses the trends and challenges that science and the economy, as two lungs of one organism, will face in the future.
